Chattanooga Restaurants No. 6 of 13

St. John's Restaurant

The city's long-running special-occasion room for upscale Southern cooking, now in the old Mountain City Club building.

Why St. John's Restaurant is No. 6

St. John's opened in 2000 in a restored hotel building at Market and King streets downtown. In 2024 it moved into the former Mountain City Club building at Chestnut and Eighth, in the West Village.

The kitchen cooks upscale Southern food: seared duck breast and confit with polenta and hot honey, mushroom pappardelle in brown butter, jumbo lump crab cakes. The wine and spirits lists are a large part of the draw.

The bigger building has five private rooms that hold up to 300, so it is now a wedding and party venue too. Dinner nightly from 5; reservations through Resy.
