Why Calliope is No. 2
Chef Khaled AlBanna and co-owner Raven Humphrey opened Calliope in 2021 and settled it on M.L. King Boulevard in downtown Chattanooga in 2022. The cooking is modern Levantine made with seasonal Southern ingredients, and Humphrey runs the drinks.
The menu runs from house-made hummus and whipped feta with shatta to lamb andouille with muhammara, braised collards with peanut dukkah, and branzino.
The New York Times named Calliope one of the 50 best restaurants in America in 2025, and AlBanna was a 2026 James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef: Southeast. Dinner only, with happy hour until 6. Book through Tock.
